Slip rentals grant the right to occupy a slip assigned by Hay Shore Boat Club and do not confer ownership or exclusive rights to any specific slip location.
Marina Rules and Enforcement
To ensure the safety, enjoyment, and efficient operation of Hay Shore Boat Club for all members and guests, the following rules apply to all slip and rack rentals.
Insurance Requirements
All vessels occupying slips, racks, or marina facilities at Hay Shore Boat Club must maintain valid marine liability insurance throughout their stay at the marina.
Proof of insurance must be provided upon request and may be required before a slip rental, transfer, reassignment, or vessel change is approved.
Failure to maintain required insurance coverage may result in the suspension or termination of docking privileges.
Slip Assignment and Reassignment
Slip rentals grant the right to occupy a slip assigned by Hay Shore Boat Club and do not confer ownership or exclusive rights to any specific slip location.
Hay Shore Boat Club reserves the right to assign and reassign slips at its discretion based on vessel size, marina operations, safety requirements, accessibility, and other operational considerations.
Vessel Changes
Slip and rack rentals are approved based on the boater and vessel information provided at the time of booking.
Boaters wishing to replace, upgrade, downgrade, or temporarily switch to a different vessel during the rental period must notify Hay Shore Boat Club in advance and obtain approval before bringing the replacement vessel into the marina.
Approval will be based on factors including, but not limited to:
Vessel length, beam, and draft;
Slip or rack availability;
Safety and navigational requirements;
Marina infrastructure limitations; and
Compliance with insurance requirements.
Approval is not guaranteed. Hay Shore Boat Club reserves the right to deny requests for vessel changes where the replacement vessel cannot be safely accommodated or does not meet marina requirements.
Slip Transfers and Vessel Sales
Slip and rack rentals are issued to the approved boater and approved vessel and may not be sold, assigned, transferred, or subleased without the prior written approval of Hay Shore Boat Club.
If a boater sells their vessel, removes their vessel from the marina, or no longer requires their slip after the season has begun, no refund will be issued except as expressly provided under the club's cancellation policy.
Upon removal of a vessel, Hay Shore Boat Club reserves the right to immediately reassign, re-rent, or otherwise utilize the slip for marina operations. Seasonal rental fees paid by the departing boater do not create an exclusive right to keep a slip vacant for the remainder of the season.
Any request to transfer the remaining term of a seasonal rental to another boater is subject to:
Approval by Hay Shore Boat Club;
Submission of required vessel, insurance, and contact information by the incoming boater;
Availability of a suitable slip; and
Payment of any applicable transfer or administrative fees.
Approval of a transfer does not guarantee assignment of a specific slip.
Enforcement and Termination
Hay Shore Boat Club reserves the right to suspend or terminate slip rentals, docking privileges, or access to marina facilities for:
Non-payment of fees or charges;
Violation of marina rules or policies;
Failure to maintain required insurance coverage;
Unsafe operation of a vessel;
Misrepresentation or provision of false information;
Harassment, abusive conduct, or threatening behaviour toward staff, members, guests, or other boaters; or
Any conduct that materially interferes with the safe, orderly, and respectful operation of the marina.
In the event of suspension or termination, the boater may be required to remove their vessel immediately or within a time frame specified by Hay Shore Boat Club.
Any refund following termination by Hay Shore Boat Club will be determined on a case-by-case basis and is not guaranteed.
